Research Methodology

ING commissioned the Economist Intelligence Unit to survey 327 UK- and Europe based senior finance executives in October 2009 and write this white paper based on the results. More than half of respondents were chief financial officer level or above. Half of respondents came from companies with more than €500 million in annual revenues, and 19% of respondents came from companies with more than €10 billion in annual revenues. All major industries were represented. In addition, the Economist Intelligence Unit interviewed 15 senior finance executives and academic experts on decision-making and the results of these interviews appear throughout the report.
